Stop the "silliness"

I’m starting to feel sorry for Barack Obama. After trying so hard to craft a message that appeals to everyone and avoiding being seen as the “black” candidate, he is now caught up in racial drama. It seems you can’t make any negative comments about Barack without being labeled a racist. Starting with Bill’s “fairy tale” comment, and continuing with Mario Cuomo’s “shucking and jiving” comment.

Now, many of his supporters are accusing the Clinton campaign of racist statements regarding MLK. I don’t think it is any disservice to MLK to point out that he could not have passed the civil rights act by himself. The passage of laws generally requires the will of politicians. When I think about it, why else would Barack and Hillary want the job.

I see that now Barack is asking people to stop the “silliness” . Politics is rough and tumble. It would be insulting to Barack Obama to treat him with kid gloves, and this kind of defensiveness is not helpful to his campaign. Even I, a black woman, am tired of it.
